I lead product design and research for RStudio Connect, an on-premise publishing software for data scientists. I research and design solutions for a broad spectrum of users, from expert technical users to our growing market of business users and budding data scientists. I've also refined our team's data-driven approach by introducing UX research practices into our product development process.

Community Design Lead and Principal Product Designer, Stack Overflow

January 2015 - April 2020

I led product design and research for the flagship Q&A product. I managed a small team, worked closely with leadership on product strategy, conducted mixed-methods research, and designed and shipped lots of features to our 50m+ users. During my five year tenure, I also helped launch the Teams business product and led design on the developer-facing Talent product.

April 2014 - January 2015

As part of the Kaplan-Techstars Accelerator program, I worked with a small team to develop the MVP product. I conducted user research, applied findings to the design, executed visual design and illustrations, and implemented front-end code using HTML and Sass.

UX Designer and Developer, Updater

November 2013 - August 2014

I designed features and workflows, conducted user research, developed Updater’s first style guide and icon library, and implemented responsive front-end code in html and Sass.

Lead Designer, Career Ladders Project

January 2011 - January 2014

I led the company’s first user research initiative, designed and helped maintain the Wordpress site, created data visualizations, oversaw design contractors, and designed collateral.
